Using "Harry Potter" for a school assignment...

...like a boss.

Um, our generation kicks ass.

  1. I pulled it out during my English grad class the other day. HP is always relevant. I'm still sad about missing the '80s, but this is a good generation to be part of.

  2. I remember when our 6th grade "term paper" (it was only a couple of paragraphs lulz) was to write about the characteristics of a hero and to use an example. Everyone in the class was writing about Superman, but I wanted to write about Harry Potter. My teacher did not allow it. He said Harry wasn't a hero. I was in a rage.

  3. I had daily comp in 6th grade, and one of our assignments was to write about something that scared us. What did I write about?

    Um.. Dementors. DUH.

  4. for my women and gender studies class last semester i wrote a 12 page (final) paper over Harry Potter. Discussed Harry's maternal figures: Lily, Petunia and Mrs. Weasley. Got an A in that class. LIKE A FUCKING BOSS.

  5. Anytime we did an assignment on books we liked all my teachers banned the use of Harry Potter so that they didn't get hundreds of papers on it. Jerks.

  6. I definitely wrote two legit essays during college using Harry Potter. They were the best moments of my life ;) Also the easiest papers I'd ever written, b/c I didn't have to look anything up!

Although, I seriously debated about one of them because my Prof was in the middle of reading the series and I was like, oh God, so many spoilers in this paper! I settled for trying to limit the spoilers as much as possible plus a disclaimer/apology at the top of the paper ;)

  7. Haha nice. The only one I've gotten away with in college is a reaction to an advertisement... I used Part 1's poster. It was a lot of fun :)

  8. Those covers are so funny! I'd never seen them before a friend brought them up from Buffalo. They're weird, I must say :-))

@Bree: your teacher was clearly insane. Harry saved the whole WORLD. 6th grade Muggle teachers would have been the first to go if Voldemort had succeeded.

  11. I just wrote 3 pages(max I was allowed to do) on a piece of writing that moved me so of course I wrote about my fave series and got a 100 on it she thought it was wonderful how descriptive I was and passionate about it. Also this semester I'm taking a 1 hour credit course where all I do is go in and talk about Harry Potter and anything related to it, we usually end up staying over an hour because we lose track of time :) It's my fave class ever!!
