Wednesday 12/8

When I'm lazy, I just do the date for a title. When I'm half-dead, I forget to put a title. **Fun fact!**

So, Wednesdays are my days I'm at school all fucking day, and I usually don't get anything useful done. Except, sometime in between Film and History, I got mega inspired and wrote like... the whole end of the chapter! YAY! Now I just have to finish the middle.
Things that amuse me that provide no life-shattering spoilers for Chapter 28:
1. A brief appearance by Arthur Weasley, who asks the timeless question: "Excuse me--are you a Weasley?"
2. A drinking song will play a minor role... listening to the seminal classic, "Seven Drunken Nights" might help mildly with your appreciation of the next chapter
3. Protective!James

And, no lie, the first two might get cut if, in re-reading the crumpled pages of my notebook, I realize that they don't fit properly within the chapter. But I think it should work, so I will fight to keep them... particularly number 2. =)

Anyway, Happy Wednesday!
Love,
Jules

  1. I really want you to keep spoiler 1... I love Arthur and if he asks Lily that I might just die laughing. Protective!James. Does that mean James gets super protective over Lily, or does he protect his own secrets, or I don't know finals have killed my brain.

When I saw that you finished the end of the chapter I got excited until I read about the middle. Thats fine though progress is a good thing and you are a lot more dedicated than I could be. Hope you have a good night!

  2. You sound sleepy. Goodnight! =) (And as for Protective!James... I would say both).

  3. My computer got a virus today so Protective!James is the best news I've gotten all day. I could sing!

  4. Oh, please, please, please(!) keep spoiler one! Or, if you must, move it to another chapter?

  5. Arthur would ask that. Hey, really random question, are you going to cover any of the dead Weasleys - aka Arthur's dead brother(s) in LAT? I've never really seen a fic cover that before.

  6. I actually have no recollection of it saying one of Arthur's brothers died. I know he had two, but I don't remember one having died.... I'm not doubting you, lol, I'm just curious where that was?

  7. It's sort of a ...leap of understanding. I don't think it was ever explicitly stated - though the HPLexicon might have influenced me in that direction. I think it's on the Weasley family page.

  8. Ooooh okay, I know what you're talking about. The guy who saw the grim and, according to Hermione, thought "Oh, well I better kick it." Or something like that. Bilius, who gave Ron an awesome middle name, I believe.

  9. Yes! Yes! That's the one I was thinking of!!!! You know more about Harry Potter than me - wait, is that possible? I did my term paper on Harry Potter junior year, I should be the biggest nerd on the planet!

    You've outnerded me.

  10. Hey, Jules,
I know I'm digressing but as I reread TLAT I don't see Lily's middle name ever being mentioned. Do you have one for her? If so, what is it?

  11. She introduces herself as Lily Marie Evans in the flashback scene of her crying and Luke offering a shoulder to cry on after the whole Snape's worst memory debacle. Luke is Luke Xavier Harper I think.

And I am so excited for this update. I have decided that I won't let myself read it until I finish re-reading all the others though. Saving it and what not. I like the regular updates on here to keep me satisfied. Good luck with writing the middle. You've mentioned before that you wanted to have 29 relatively done before you posted 28 because there is a cliffhanger, is that still the case? And if so, have you been writing 29 as well?

I look forward to the drinking song. I love a good drinking scene. We had an almost kiss last scene. Which chapter is the 36 hour affair in? Because it ends in James' arms for Lily and I have got to say I look forward to that. :)

  12. The 36 hours is during chapters 28 and 29 i think.

  13. Lindsay is correct. And I have been writing Chapter 29, too. I've got some of it done... idk, the important thing isn't that I have it all WRITTEN by the time I post Chapter 28, but that I know EXACTLY what I'm going to do with every single scene, lol. That sounds super OCD, but since the two chapters are connected so intricately, and the subject matter is a little... atypical for the story, I basically want to be sure I don't write myself into any corners.

@Bree--yeah, I wrote Lily's middle name as "Marie" in Chapter 23, because I thought I had already written her name as that, but I hadn't, and then I got mad at myself, because I wanted to name her something else, but I had already established "Marie." And I'm too lazy to re-upload the document.

    Eh, maybe some day...

  14. Hey Jules,

    Random question:

    What is everyone's blood status?

I mean, I know Lily and Mary are muggleborn. James, Sirius and Donna are pureblood. Remus is half-blood... but everyone else? I can't seem to remember if you mentioned it in the story, and I am rather curious :)

  15. Marlene is muggleborn--she grew up with Mary. Um... Frank and Alice are pureblood. Carlotta is pureblood. Shelley is halfblood, in that at least one of her grandparents is a muggle. I have Peter as a half-blood, with his dad being a muggle, but in the context of the story, Peter doesn't know his dad or much about him, so he doesn't really know his blood status, except that his mum is a witch.

Um--is there anyone else you'd like to know about? That's kind of the main group, there... Oh, Reg Cattermole is half-blood, with muggle grandparents and magic parents.

    =)

  16. Oooh. Awesome. Just Adam now :)

  17. Something I've noticed: Lily's middle name is Marie an awful lot in fanfictions. Was it actually revealed by JKR as her middle name, or is it just a thing that caught on?

And I'm familiar with 'Seven Drunken Nights'... Irish drinking songs are the best, aren't they?

And protective James sounds absolutely divine ;) ... as long as he is being protective over Lily. If it's Carlotta, then it actually sounds a bit sickening.

  18. Thank you, anonymous!

Jules- Or you can just change it if you want and we'll all pretend as if you never established it before. And if anyone gives you crap about it, refer them to me *cracks knuckles*

Or perhaps she cold have two middle names? lol My best friend has three.

    ReplyDelete
  19. @Bree: Three middle names? Like Dumbledore? haha

And you can never go wrong with a good drinking song. Ha. That rhymed ;)

  20. @Anonymous 11:28-- I have no idea why everyone always uses "Marie." I think my memory of having already used it prior to Chapter 23 was from ITISNS, where her middle name is "Marie," and idk why I used it then either. Laziness, probably, because it sounds good with just "Lily." Also, there's the whole Marian connection (Christian mother of Christ and all that jazz). Idk if that's why people use it, though **shrug**

@Anonymous 11:01-- oh, yeah, forgot about Adam. Pureblood. I also imagine Adam with several sisters (three or four).

Actually, I have a whole bunch of random family info for the characters that never really got put to use, so I might just make a post on that =)

  21. Kelsey, yes, like Dumbledore. LOL. I love people with ridiculously long names.
