  2. Dear Prudence--I see what you did there, Jules. And "Moderately relevant?" The Beatles are always relevant ;)

(I've recently realized I end BASICALLY every post on here with ;)....oh well)

  3. Lol, well yes of course they're always relevant. But those five songs are moderately relevant to the chapter, I meant.

  4. Hey have you changed the colour of the writing?

  5. "Sexy Sadie you'll get yours yet
However big you think you are"

    >>hmmm..;)

  6. Ooh, 'Dear Prudence' eh? I'm trying to read extra into the lyrics to see what relevance they have to Prudence the character... but eh, can't really see what it can mean :/

As for Eleanor Rigby - *squee* It's my favourite ever song. Ever. Not just Beatles song, but any song in the history of the universe, ever :)

  7. ^ Agree, Eleanor Rigby really is a beautiful song. But one of my favourites is Golden Slumbers because of the way Paul's voice goes when he sings 'smiles *awake* you when you rise'; for some reason this always makes me laugh =]

  8. My absolute favorite song is Here Comes the Sun! I love the Beatles :) this made my day!

  9. @Jules: haha, yeah, I know--I was merely expressing my love for the Beatles ;)

(AHHH, see??? ;) again!!! I think I need therapy....)

  10. Except for the eyes,

I think Rachel Boston is a really good real-life-Lily!

  12. ...On the topic of music in the LAT era, Jules, you know which song has been missing from your list that seriously deserves some cred? "Sexy Thing" by Hot Chocolate.

No, I'm not kidding. Much love for Hot Chocolate.

  13. This is going to be completely off topic, and please excuse me for that, but this is the blog where I most prefer discussing Harry Potter-esque discussions.

But I just had a thought.

How WILL they explain the diadem in DH2 without Harry never having seen the bust, etc. And then it was kind of obvious to me. They'll have Ginny say that she saw it. Maybe they'll even have her go with Luna and Harry (or just replace Luna..no never mind, they need her to get in the tower) to Ravenclaw tower to look at the replica, and she'll have this moment where she knows she's seen it before. This seems to me like the most logical way for them to find it rather than the REAL way.

Sorry, just couldn't resist calling this out. But who KNOWS what they'll do. (All I can picture is a Steve Klove's inspired scene of Harry and Ginny running off towards Ravenclaw tower, when OH NO! Ginny needs to tie his shoelaces...or clip his fingernails. How the hell should we know.)

  14. Oh, and @chubbypotato: Just watched Glee--wow. My succinct reaction--Quinn is an idiot, Finn is a total douche (but I've always thought that), and I love Puck. The end. Oh, and Santana is pretty awesome as well. And Blaine + Kurt = happiness.

  15. 5 songs: one for each section/girl?

    J

  16. @Kelsey
i agree completely with your reaction.
but i think i blame the writers for the quinn/finn debacle. it makes no sense and popped out of nowhere.

    ReplyDelete
  17. @Lauren-- that's actually a good idea. That might be the only logical way i can think that they might do it... however, it would force Steve Kloves to write a Weasley, so he might not do it =P

@Glee reactions-- I... I can't even. Just. Just no. I'm putting it out of my brain because I'm so annoyed.

    @Todd- LOL YES!

@840- pretty close! each song is for a girl, yes, but not for a section.

  19. Lauren (this is totally off-topic, but I need to say this) - was it you who recommended 'Memory Box' to me? I just started it and I absolutely hate it! I mean, it's awful!

That's usually why I stay away from HPFF.com because Sirius/OC is so popular there. I find it really difficult to find Lily/James stories without a Sirius/OC side-pairing. It's actually totally accepted there, and the term 'MarySue' doesn't even seem to exist over at HPFF :/

There's nothing - NOTHING - I hate more than Sirius/OC. Especially when said OC is Lily's best friend. Especially when they're absolutely beautiful and have such MarySue names like Isabella Masahara or whatever it was. And... I mean she's a *princess*! How is it possible to get more MarySue than that? I might be able to stand it *slightly* better if Sirius' love interest's name was Marlene or Hestia or Emmeline etc. But this? No.

I couldn't get past the second chapter; it was too much :/ So my quesstion is this: how could you stand it? How could you possibly call it amazing? Just... how?

And another thing to everyone up there: please don't talk about Glee!! We're ages behind in the UK, so please no spoilers?

  20. 6:11-

Weeeeell, to be fair, I started the story when I was sixteen and very new to reading fan fiction at all.

But I agree, Isabella is pretty mary sue-ish (I've come to accept the fact), and I really normally can't stand any fan fiction with a Sirius/OC. But I fell in love with the story. The author really is fantastic with the plot. And it gets better as the chapters go. I mean, I started reading Commentarius, and I hated the beginning. But people here say it gets fantastic so eventually I'll probably try again when I have time.

Oh well, I'm just sorry that it upset you so much. Soon chapter 30 of LAT will come though, and there will be much rejoicing and snacks.

how are you behind on a tv show in 2011??? there are episodes everywhere online.
    but i won't spoil it further :)

  22. @ 6:11 - Lol as a fellow Brit I had some major Glee spoilage when I read above ccomments as well. But I don't mind; I watch Glee for the awesome lines some of the characters come out with and the songs, not the plot, so I don't really mind. Actually I'm more interested after reading the above comments :)

@ Lauren - I haven't actually read Memory Box, or even heard of it up until about 2 minutes ago when I read ^^ comments, but I think there is a world of difference between comparing Commentarius, which starts off messy and poor but becomes absolutely amazing, and this Memory Box which has a Sirius/MarySue pairing. Because after the first few chapters, you don't have to put up with the bad stuff any more. But with Memory Box, this MarySue isn't going to go away is she?

I don't see why authors are obsessed with pairing Lily's best friends with the Marauders. How often does it happen that your female friends get together with your other half's best friends? And I mean outside of Friends, The O.C and in various romance books.

Jules, I have a question I've been meaning to ask: Shelley mentioned at the end of sixth year that she was going to Italy over the holidays. And then Carlotta told James that she was going to Italy also. So... does this mean that they might have seen each other there?

  23. chubbypotato: lol I don't really bother with watching shows online. Once you start, you won't be able to stop. I'd rather just wait until they come on tv. But then of course, I risk major spoilers like finding out the Finn and Quinn are going to get it on :/

Lauren: Commentarius improves, plot-wise and writing wise. But if in Memory Box Sirius?OC stays throughtout, then, well, I won't start liking it. I would only be able to put up with it if it was only a very small part of the story. But judging from the first chapter, it looks like it will be more S/OC that James/Lily. Commentarius, even with all its' faults, didn't go down the Sirius/OC route - which in my mind is far, far worse than... anything else really.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh lol Lou already said what I wanted to say :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Lou,
Shelley did not end up going to Venice, as she mentioned she might. So, she hasn't SEEN Carlotta, but that does not mean there has been no communication between them.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Atm I'm actually more excited at this point to find out about what Shelley's been up to than l/j.

Just cause the Carlotta problem doesn't seem to be leaving anytime soon.

  27. Sorry to be that person...when will the update occur?

  28. Not sure yet. I'll post later tonight with more info.
