Chapter 30 Music

But before I get too far into the chapter I just really, really want to thank you all for reading and reviewing. And I always say that, but I really do mean it. Whether it's posting on here, or reviewing, or leaving nice things in my Ask on Tumblr, you guys give me so much encouragement and support, and you make it so much fun for me to write LAT. Words cannot express my gratitude to all of you for being so wonderful.

Alright, onto the Chapter stuff.

Below Be Spoilers for Chapter 30. Do not read before you have finished.
So, parts of Chatper 30 are kind of confusing. I thought I would post for you all the sketchy timeline I used to sort out who was where at what time.

^That =100 Pages

Oh, and lest any of you be thinking of yelling at me, one of the excerpts I gave you did end up getting cut. It was Carlotta's POV on the shouting at the end... I decided to keep that only to Lily for a couple of reasons... one, drama, and two, it's 100 fucking pages already.

Something else that sadly got cut was Reg Cattermole, who originally played a little role in this chapter. His plotline was not sustainable, sadly. But, have no fear, he'll be back soon enough.

More Marauders in the next chapter than there were in this chapter, too.

As for Chapter 30, which part was your favorite? (I-V)
And are you on Shelley's side or Carlotta's?

On the potential AVPM reference:
Lol, actually... that wasn't a AVPM reference. It's just a HP reference, and there's some other stuff going on with that... (I'm sorry, my brain is dead, I am not explaining myself well at all), but if you want it to be an AVPM reference, let it be, baby.

  1. Jules! Jules! I am trying to read this but it's hard because I keep squirming with giddy happiness. Eeeeeeeee!

And by this I mean chapter 30, though you are posting some very nice tunes.

  2. OMFG I love Mumford and Sons!!! So excited for the chapter! :)

  3. 100 pages of the much-anticipated next installment of greatness. And what an interesting last first day of school it has been. Ooooh the drama.

Favorite parts: III (Donna) and IV (Marlene).

I hope you awake from an undoubtedly deserved 8+ hour nap to find many happy comments and reviews. :)

  4. Ok, so I've only read the Carlotta part because I just realized I have to go to work. But I had to ask...

Was that an AVPM reference I saw in part 1? :D

  5. Jules, you've exceeded yourself again. And it was worth that wait.
You deserve those reviews, seriously, the writing is worth them. You're an amazing writer, and you'll go far one day :)

On another note, the chapter was interesting character wise, and Lily's part is my favourite. I think I'm on Shelley's side, but then I'm biased against Carlotta. And Lily's finally realised, so she can't be to happy with Carlotta either. Yeah, Carlotta knew about Shelley, but went ahead anyway. *cough selfish bitch cough*

  6. That was wonderful! I'd write a decent review once I'm thinking properly. I'm getting it all in.

  7. Lily's part was my favourite, though this chapter made me sympathise with Carlotta more. This does not mean that I am on Carlotta's side, I'm on Lily's side. But it was useful to get into Carlotta's head more, it made her more sincere. Still, she did some backstabbing to Shelley.
Too bad Reg was cut! I like him.
But indeed, this was the worst day ever. :P

  8. Awww Lily's part was so heartbreaking. Wonderful jobs Jules!!

  10. Such a good chapter! Can't wait for the next :)

-I'm not sure if anybody has asked you this yet and its a shot in the dark really since I'm only basing it off mutual Indian descent and first names that begin with P haha, but is Prudence the future mum of Parvati and Padma?

  11. Probably not. I think she'd be too young.

Nah, it's good. I've had three cups of coffee and have packed a giant travelers mug to get me through econ. =)

  14. :/

I've often done all-nighters before (the staying up to do coursework sort - not the other sort; mind out of the gutter, people), and by about eight in the morning I am more fully awake than I usually am ever, but by early afternoon, I am dead on my feet. No matter the caffeine intake. Are you sure you can make it through the day without collapsing?

  16. I take it you enjoyed the chapter? =P

  17. Jules it took me twice as long to read the chapter as it should have because I kept writhing around due to absolute giddiness and then I'd lose my place. The chapter made me talk to my computer. Like at first it was smiles, then outright laughs and then I was catching myself say "Bitch," "Remus, I want to hug you," and a drawn out "Noooooooooooo" towards the end.

Part V was my fav, by far. Although I think the Trolley Lady part was one of the best things ever. In the world.

  18. YAY it was pure bliss to read! My mind is swimming with what I think is going to happen in the next few chapters! Btw the music selection was perfect it fit to a T. You have stupendous taste in music.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yes!! I LOVED it! And, okay, I've calmed down a bit now. Right.

What I loved about this chapter - the angst. Oh, the angst. And to think I hadn't been looking forward to it... but it was just amazing. All of it. All so... poignant and epicly sad and... just sad.

What was my favourite part? I think it would have to be Lily's. Because that made me saddest. I swear I was actually close to tears at one point; the Shelley/Carlotta confrontation was... brilliant. Toatlly lived up to expectations. So, yeah, that. But all of them had really... significant and poignant moments.

Mary's, well... everything. Wtf was up with Stebbins? It's possible that Shelley didn't know that he and Mary were together (did she, by the way?), but Stebbins? Yes, he's a guy and guys can be awful, but... but there must be other factors (*cough*). No, seriously, why would he do that? Presumably that was their first time together, no? And he cheated on her hours later? Problem is, we haven't actually seen much of Stebbins, so we don't know what he's like, really. But poor, poor Mary.

I'm still Team Shelley, but only just. I'm really, really disappointed in her. And Lily was totally right about Shelley losing any moral high ground she had by snogging a guy with a girlfriend. She seems to be totally missing the point. But dammit Jules, I want to hear the plan! Yes, I suppose we can gather the gist of the plan... but I'm pretty sure it's not as simple as we'll think it is, purely because you never make it easy.

And OMG did anyone ever in a million years guess that the 'whoring bitch' comment would be TO Shelley?!

Other things I loved: Remus and Lily's conversation. Marlene (who, by the way, I'm not usually as much of a fan of); I found myself genuinely feeling for her for the first time. Prudence - I like the fact that she's not a bitch; it makes things so much more realistic and difficult for Marlene. Mary's reaction to... everything that went down. Donna and Plex's conversation at the end. Carlotta's insecurity; and Marlene's reaction to it.

Things I didn't like: No Reg :( Not enough Marauders :( James' suckiness :( Shelley's makeover... I found that totally unrealistic at first, but it actually works a bit better as it goes on. But, still, I'm disappointed in her.

Questions: Will we find out what went down between Shelley and Stebbins? And wtf is up with James? I'm sorry but it was the most obvious thing in the world why exactly Lily is upset about the relationship, so James *must* have figured out that she was upset/jealous. So why is he acting like a complete effing idiot? Is he TRYING to rub it in? Prat. And WHY was the J/C stuff so damn fluffy, dammit!

    ReplyDelete
  20. @ "And OMG did anyone ever in a million years guess that the 'whoring bitch' comment would be TO Shelley?!"

    LOL, no, never.

I think you covered everything I loved about the chapter, 11:02. Except the whole A HUNDRED FUCKING PAGES!! =D Seriously, Jules. How could you possibly write so much in just a month? ONE MONTH?! I had 3 months to write up a 2500 word essay and I struggled. So how on earth did you manage it?

You are amazing, Jules. Fucking A'.

  21. I just left a ranting review on FF, and I come here to read that the anon above me basically said everything I said but in a MUCH much more eloquent and succinct manner, bravo.

Jules, great chapter, you will read my review when you get to it. However, I thought I should congratulate you from here as well.

I wish I could smack James upside the head. And I sincerely hope that Lily and Sirius "catch up". That literally made my heart soar that he was the ONE person who saw right through Lily's facade and even more so sympathized with her. Yay Sirius, best mate award!

  23. Can i have more Sirius please?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am definitely on Carlotta's side over Shelley's. I know what Carlotta did was wrong because Shelley absolutely adored James, but Shelley barely talks to James and James barely knows Shelley, and plus Shelley is a dumb bitch! I hate her.

My favorite part was Lily's especially at the very end. I was wondering why Lily's reaction was just "Cool" and I felt like it'd be something greater, but the answer was told at the very end. Ugh I feel so bad for her. I just want her to be happy.

Usually I hate Lily in most fanfictions I read, she's judgmental, and a bitch and rude. But this Lily is better, she's how I pictured Lily to be. She actually has more of a personality, than some crazy person who gets mad at James for now reason.

I also liked the Donna part with Charlie Plex. She's awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Part III & V. One, I love Donna because I feel I can identify with her. And I love Lily & finally seeing her revelation was amazing.

Now I just want to know what's going through James' head. It's KILLING me. And more Marauders = the best gift you can ever give.

I think I rather be on Shelly's side. Carlotta's a bitch & deserves to finally get her feelings hurt. She hurt someone she called her best friend and now she expects everything to be ok. I know Shelly hasn't talked to James at all, but it's in the unwritten girl code. You don't date someone your best friends like. Or at least talk to her before you do that shit. Instead of "oh guess what? The guy you like, I'm dating him". That's a big fuck you.

But regardless, I loved this chapter just as I love them all.

Also, I had to mentally slap myself because in the beginning I was like AWE JAMES AND CARLOTTA! And then I "slapped" myself and said wut da fuck am I thinking.

    HAHA rant over.

  27. I love you, I love you, I love you, I love youuu.
    Also.
Lots of talk of 'love' from Carlotta and Shelley.
I can honestly say that I am over my (slight) obsesssion with Shelley and that its seemed to have transferred on to Carlotta.
    But still.
    Team Lily.
Favourite part was Carlotta and Lily (<--- :()
    But more on that later.

  28. Before he left, Sirius draped an arm around Lily's shoulder and leaned close to her, muttering so that none of the others could hear: "Evans, I think you and I have some catching up to do."

  30. My exams are finally finished and I decided to give the proper respect this chappie deserved:

All the teenage drama practically killed me. I especially loved the firey reaction from Mary and blow up of Lily. Those two scenes made my day and have people looking at me weirdly.

Donna's calm threat to Plex was awesome too. But Lily's revelation was heart-breaking. Only a couple seconds of blissful love before being totally crushed. I really loved Sirius and how he was the only one to see through Lily's shit. And wow Lily... I loved how she dealt with J/C dating. Cold and practical. Yay.

Can you believe that I was listening to Avril's 'What the hell' when Shelley came out looking like a cheap slut and making out with Mary's bf? Ironic? Fate?

Regarding Team Shelley and Team Carlotta:
I am generally ambiguous to both sides (sice I am totally Team Lily) but I prefer Shelley most of the time. Carlotta was always a backstabbing and selfish bitch. You would think she would spare her only friend, but what would you do? *shrugs*
And Shelley... c'mon seriously , you turned into Carlotta 1.5! Honey, no...
I was your team but slutty approaches never work...

I love that Marlene is in more turmoil from Adam's nice gf. But the stare was *fans self*

Lily's talk with Marlene was also heartbreaking and gives a real insight on what she might do next. Can't wait.

Lily's talk with Remus was hilarious and I was cracking up so much that I had to read it over.

Cheers and already anxious for more,
    (You've turned me into a junkie... 8P)

  33. Carlotta looked between the other two actors in this little scene: Lily and Shelley. Shelley looked resentful and hurt and wronged. She looked angry and sad and tired, and there were tears in her eyes. But Lily—Lily was in pain, too.

I think she meant that ^^^ excerpt was cut.
The Sirius thing was kept in.

  34. Unless my hazy brain ENTIRELY skipped that. It's definitley possible. 100 pages.

  35. The quote I put was actually said in the story, just never followed up on. I want to see Sirius talk to Lily, and Remus to actually say what he was going to say.

  36. ME TOO. And James + Lily to hook up. But we might have till at LEAST November.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh my God. I just finished- I read as much as I could on my phone during school, and I finally sat down and gave it the attention it deserved when I got home. Oh my God. Lily on the platform killed me. I mean, up until then in the chapter I thought she was just freaking out but not understanding why she was. But that just... oh my God. I'm a stuttering idiot right now, but it was just perfect and beautiful and I loved it and I wish I could just keep reading right now!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Okay. Wow. Amazing chapter Jules. Just... brilliant. I loved it.

What was my favourite part? Don't have a clue. I loved it all; every part was full of surprises. Maybe I'll have to re-read it before I can decide on a favourite part.

As for the Shelley or Carlotta conundrum...hmm, well, this is hard. I've always been in Shelley's corner, and I've hated Carlotta throughout. But now... Shelley isn't even Shelley anymore, and Carlotta is acting quite human. They've both done complete U-turns that I feel I can't make a decision until we see more of the new Carlotta and Shelley.

I think overall I'm actually still Team Shelley, but I think that's less to do with sympathy for Shelley and more to do with hatred for Carlotta. And thing is while I'm sure that Shelley DID know about Stebbins and Mary, I think she forgot until she saw Mary in the Entrance Hall; and whatever happened, she didn't realise what exactly she was doing. AND she definitely regretted it. Which is far, far more than what could be said for Carlotta - she has always known if the bloke she is snogging/sleeping with/trying to seduce has a girlfriend, and she never regrets it. Even the Frank thing - she never felt bad for what she did, she only regretted it 'cos she didn't win, and she was the one who got hurt in the end; if she had ended up with Frank, would she have cared about hurting Alice? Not at all.

But still... how pathetic is Shelley acting? Yeah, she got betrayed by her best friend - that argument at the very end was totally understandable. But completely changing your very self for revenge? Slagging yourself (although I don't really understand the logic here...) to get a guy's attention?

Whatever Shelley was doing snogging--and the other stuff--with several guys IN ONE DAY (ew!), is just wrong and... weird. And I'd like to understand the situation with Stebbins, because I don't get why Shelley would do that. Her whole attitude to the situation is wrong and she is hurting people (poor Mary!) over it. But nonetheless, out of Carlotta and Shelley, Shelley is the wronged party, and she's acting out - totally inappropriately, because she's quite dim, it seems; but at the end of it, out of her and Carlotta, Shelley has more to be hurt over.

Much as I don't actually understand Shelley right now (will we be getting anything from her POV soon?), this whole shit is effing amazing, and I never saw any of it coming. The showdown in the dorm was probably the best thing in the chapter - mostly cos I was really anticipating it, and it most definitely didn't disappoint :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. (Carrying on from the previous post - apparently it was too long)

And now, onto the only thing that I didn't like in this chapter...

James... oh how you disappointed me, James. For the first time in the course of this story, I actually found myself disliking him. Genuinely disliking him. First - he is totally okay with Carlotta fucking over her best friend. I mean, wtf? If, say, Sirius got together with Lily while deceiving her about James' feelings, well then, James would be beyond pissed off. I imagine it would lead to another 'you're out' episode. But when Carlotta does the equivalent... James totally doesn't care?? I expected him to be atleast a little bit pissed off; I thought it would open his eyes to the fact that Carlotta has pretty much NO good qualities. But instead, he sleeps with her straight after. The knob.

And THEN the whole conversation with Lily - WHAT a prick. "...and I'm sorry: 'Cool?' That's all I get? Not even a 'Congratulations,' or..."

...seriously? Seriously? And how can he possible be so dense not to realise why Lily's angry/hurt? Or worse - he DOES realise why Lily's angry but is sticking with Carlotta any way.

Will we get something from his POV soon as well? My faith in him has been severely shaken. First it was when he got together with Carlotta in the first effing place, but then it was... marginally restored during the protest stuff. But now this... ugh, James you absolute knob. I really need to understand what was going through his head in this chpater, 'cos otherwise, my crush on LaT!James might be at an end :(

That being said, I still LOVED this chapter. The BEST yet! Oh, so much drama, and angst. Just brilliant. You should be well chuffed with yourself for this Jules :)

  40. JULES I LOVED IT. Thanks for doing an all-nighter for us.
I'm Team Lily. Forever and ever. Carlotta and Shelley can go suck it. It was so sad that she figured out she liked James just as Carlotta runs up. =/

LOVED the conversation Lily had with Remus. xDD

  41. Underbabe and Lindsay - the Sirius excerpt was in the chapter - at the end of the prefects meeting - told from Lily's POV.

    ReplyDelete
  42. @ 2:34: Yes, they know, lol. They just meant that Sirius and Lily didn't *actually* 'catch up'.

@ Nia: "I think overall I'm actually still Team Shelley, but I think that's less to do with sympathy for Shelley and more to do with hatred for Carlotta."

^ Ditto. And yes, why was James so ok with Carlotta betraying her best friend? I didn't expect that from him.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Amazing chapter! It really bumped up my mood from angry with the world to somewhat approachable.

First of all, 100 pages. That alone is an amazing feat, but 100 pages of quality writing? I am impressed.

I feel like I may be one of the few saying this but I actually side with Carlotta. Don't get me wrong, she deserves to lose her best friend (and more) for the stunts she pulled in the past. However, Shelley witnessed Carlotta's stunts, saw the consequences Carlotta's actions had on all parties involved (particularly with Frank and Miles), and she still decided to act that way. Shelley copying Carlotta's actions after seeing the horrible effects they had makes her just as bad (and in my opinion, worse) than Carlotta.

I keep on wondering about this mysterious 'potion' Shelley referred to.

On another note, my heart really went out to Marlene in this chapter. I've been her before and it hurts like no other to be in that situation.

And poor Lily! Trying to hold it together for everyone while dying inside.

    Excellent chapter, Jules!

  44. Update?

No I kid. But after your lessons and work and your 10 hour nap could you do a post on the general plan for chap 31?

    ReplyDelete
  45. OMG!!! that was an AMAZING chapter! 100 pages!! teehee
I loved Lily's part the most but my second was surprisingly Carlotta's followed by Marlene's part...

I and I am Shocked by saying this am on Carlotta's side... I never did like Shelley, she was too much of a coward and pathetic about her crush on James. I mean Carlotta's a bitch and a whore but she acknowledges it to a point. Shelley just is a bitch and a whore (for now) and doesnt realise that she DOESNT have any excuses for it...

But anyways Yay Lily realises her love for James!!! Hurrah to bad its kinda too late... and that bit at the end omg I absolutely loved it! It was indeed the worst first day...

I really really would love to see something from James' POV especially while hes dating Carlotta! it would be extremely fascinating... especially with his perspective about his relationship with Carlotta

    ReplyDelete
  46. The writing this chapter was brilliant! I loved seeing the day from all of the girl's points of views. Lily's was my favorite, just because I adore her so much. By the way, thank you Jules!

Just a funny thought, imagine what a chapter would be like from the five Gyffindor boys perspectives...

    ReplyDelete
  47. Jules, you've outdone yourself. That was fucking fantastic. Honestly-- inspiring work. I don't know if I can pick a fovourite part, but some of those scenes were beyond perfect.

Lily's explosion to Shelly and Carlotta.
The conversation between Lily and Remus.
Marlene thinking she was an awful sister.
Donna's victoriuos speech to Charlie -- Actually, pretty much everything Donna said and did. I absolutely adore her.

Oh, and I also liked the very end of Carlotta's bit when she's thinking of what Lily had just asked her -- "Why him? Why James Potter", and she was a bit afraid of her. Fuck yes.

Having said that, I really felt for Carlotta a lot more that I thought I would in theis chapter, and I've never really had a problem with her, so I'm not looking forward to seeing her get hurt.

Okay, scratch that. Maybe I'm looking forward to it. A little. Or, y'know, a lot. ;)

Anyways, amazing work, Jules. You just made my day. No, my LIFE.

    Haha, now I'm done.

    Sabrina :)

  48. When Mary said, "I can't even..." I LOL because I thought, "OMG she's on Tumblr."

My favorite part is, undoubtedly, Lily's followed by Donna's.

Whose side am I on? Neither. And that is saying something since I am most definitely NOT on Carlotta's side. I expected to be on Shelley's prior to this chapter. If she hadn't been such a bitch I probably would. But I am with Lily on this: they are both wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Loved the chapter Jules! I spent most the work day reading on my phone (such is life after college)... My favorite part is Lily's followed by Marlene (I can identify with her).

Will we get to see "the plan" in action in the Carlotta Delenda Est chapter?

  51. wonderful, fantastic, magnificent, great, awesome, totally RAD chapter! 100 pages of pure genius! i've said it before, but you are a mad genius, Jules! love it!

@bree i agree with you on the whole carlotta or shelley situation. they are both so wrong!

carlotta got what was coming to her, and i feel no sympathy for her. i mean seriously?!

"Frank didn't want me. James did."

and okay, i get it, yes boys liked her but none like james but come on! to your best friend? and then shelley with stebbins? i just don't buy that she could have possibly not known of mary and him dating. she had to! they're dorm mates!

and oh my merlin! LILY! gotta love lily! by far my favorite part of the whole chapter. especially her little banter with Remus....

"I can't believe you thought I wanted to date you!"

"Please!" she scoffed in return. "You would be so lucky!"

please tell me that james heard that?! just as more proof that lily is only acting cold towards him. the git. i love him, but he's a git in this chapter!
hence, i also liked lily's freak out on James. I really liked that part.

but all will be forgiven eventually and james will leave carlotta to feel the pain of a thousand burning suns... ..too dramatic? =p

CAN'T WAIT FOR CHAPTER 31!! will it be a few days after the worst day ever? or weeks? or even maybe the same day but from the marauder's point of view?

So i've just read the chapter now and ohhh my god. It's hard to think of words. 'I can't even' (HAHA tumblr in LAT - brilliant).
Shelley has gone insane and i love it. Carlotta is just disgusting, James is an idiot, Lily is wonderful, Donna is fierce and scary and isfafsjfksjjasjffj.
You are such a freaking fantastic writer, i loved every part of this chapter and thank you for writing this masterpiece and so much for staying up all night finishing it!

  55. Haha- for anyone who listens to mugglecast, there was a segment about weird places that the audience listened to the podcast.
WELL, I read LAT while I worked out on the elliptical this morning. And it was the easiest workout ever. The time just flew by. Thank you LAT for making something non enjoyable pass by more quickly

    Also:
It was amazing, Jules. You just keep outdoing yourself. I never expected you to have lily realize her feelings so soon, but I'm so HAPPY that you did it that way. This has been one kickass of a day

  57. Ok, just finished the chapter and totally should be going to bed, but I am more in love with this story and these characters that ever before.

Jules, you write AMAZING characters. They are human and heartbreaking.

Favorite part, Donna owning Charlie Plex comes in #2. The #1 spot belongs to one simple comment that made me snort with little dignity. Donna's "I'm still darker" made my night.

In regards to Carlotta and Shelly. I read some comments discussing with whom they agree, but in reality, they are the same person. And what makes this such a testament to your characterization is it's true! People gravitate to people who are like themselves. Shelly's idolization of Carlotta is not just because of her popularity and beauty. Rather, Carlotta is a reflection of her own personality and Shelly gets reinforcement vicariously through the attention given to Carlotta.

Neither one of them want James for the right reasons, as Lily points out. They both see him as an ideal and an object. He is a prize that should they own, will make them feel better about themselves. Carlotta's section admits to this and instead of making me sympathize, it made my stomach churn a bit.

So sorry Jules. I don't think I'm reacting quite the way you intended. I don't feel sympathy for Carlotta, but I am blown away that Shelly is exactly the same. I feel like I should have seen it coming. The clues were all there.

But in terms of "sides" there is only Lily's side. Not because I'm just a rabid Lily/James fan (I am) but she is the one who is right.

    You are brilliant and wonderful.

  58. I feel like I have to write in defence of the recently much maligned James here.
When he first got involved with Carlotta, he had no idea about Shelley and her crush. By the time he did find out, at the end of this 'worst day ever', the damage to all the relationships had already been done. So what exactly should he do? (the LeBron James technique) Ending his relationship with Carlotta seems pretty pointless, though he does suggest that he is willing to step aside if it will help heal the rift between Carlotta and Shelley; at which point he is told that it will make no difference, so why should he?
As for Lily, its easy as a reader to say that he is being idiotic but consider it from his point of view. He doesn't know what Lily is thinking or feeling (what guy ever knows what a woman is thinking or feeling?) and so bases his assumptions off their recent interactions, most notably the kiss-that-wasn't. So he believes that Lily wants a strictly platonic relationship, so why shouldn't he assume Lily would congratulate him on his new relationship? And so he takes her angry reaction later at face value, that she is annoyed he didn't tell her, not that she is hurt he is dating someone else.

Anyway, great chapter Jules. Especially liked Carlotta's section and character development, I thought it showed that she is growing up and that her past licentious behaviour was as much a sign of her immaturity as her attitude. Am actually quite pro-Carlotta... at least for awhile anyway.
(will probably get lynched if I don't add that I am of course pro-Lily first and foremost)

  60. This was an awesome awesome chapter! I would have to say my favorite was Lilys scene! You portrayed her feelings so eloquently, and it was so sad how she only had 9 seconds of bliss before everything started going wrong. After lily would have to be Donna because let's face it, a protective Donna is just SO cute :)

I would still have to side with Shelley even tho she did a complete turnaround. I really am looking forward to the plan and if she actually goes thru with it! Carlotta is just so spiteful and mean, and while they are both wrong here, Carlotta deserves a blue ribbon for being the most awful friend ever. (tho it's nice to see her jealous and insecure thoughts in this chapter)

And I'm actually super pumped for the new characters! When will we meet Clancyand see more of what she's like? (I'm sorry but am I the only one who thinks of Chansey from pokemon?) and I'm really curious about the young girl sitting at the teachers table???!!!

Great and wonderful and fantastic chapter jules!

  61. I loved this. so much. Words cannot describe my love for this chapter, but I'll try.

My favorite part was definitely Lily's, because I saw her little scene on the platform coming but it was still heart-wrenching to read.
I loved everyones' POVs, but I wanted more of the Marauders! And Lily and Sirius really need to have that heart-to-heart xD. Next chapter please?

I'd have to say my second favorite part of the chapter was Carlotta, if only because her POV was so interesting.

Oh, and I loved the slutty Shelley angle! It added so much more drama and angst to the storyline- amazing stroke of genius there, Jules. Or did you plan that all along?

As far as teams go, I think I can't say I'm on either Shelley or Carlotta's side. Because the facts are simple: James is all wrong for both of them and perfect for Lily. And the poor girl had to stand there, heartbroken, watching two girls who had no idea what was going through Lily's mind fight over the guy she just realized she loved. I just wanted to give Lily a hug =[

Okay, rant over. Love this so much and love you for writing this much too!

  62. k, just left a review on FF and I will have more to say after my second read through (of which, I'm in the middle of) but I just had to quickly comment on how much I love, love, LOVE the little detail of James/Lily and Marlene/Adam saying the exact same thing at different times.

J/L- "We're seventeen. Of course we're a public display type of couple." "They're seventeen. Of course they will."

M/A-"Protective Donna," mused Marlene. "This should be fun." "A protective Shack, this should be interesting."

Oh, how my shipper heart flutters.

  63. This chapter goes on to prove three things:

#1:You are an amazing author who made me feel sympathy to even a character like Carlotta or Shelley. The part at the end with Lily finally realizing her feelings for James and Marlene breakdown are poignant to read, it just feels so real and I think everybody had to deal with something like this at some point.

#2:Donna is just so kickass, she's the star of this chapter. It gives all Donna shipper a new reason to be proud of. Charlie Plex is an asshole, he deserves the reply he got.

#3:If my ex didn't make me realize it than this did, men are bastards! Between James ignoring the fact that Carlotta has just betrayed her best and only friend, Charlie Plex being a total bastard and Stebbins cheating on Mary (after having sex with her in a toilet) with a girl he barely knew, will the men in LAT redeem themselves? (Adam, Sirius and Remus are great this chapter though.)

Poor Mary, Lily and Marlene. Can't Carlotta get hit by a thunder or something so that Lily could console him while he's grieving , he would soon realize that Lily is better than Carlotta(which he probably already know)and they would start dating before getting married. Or not. Prudence is really adorable, no wonder Marlene's is angsty.

Did Shelley know that Stebbins had a girlfriend?

Will Charlie Plex really hold his tongue and be faithful to his new girlfriend?

    Somehow I doubt that.

    Oh the drama.

  64. I'd love to send you a nice long review, however i have spent all night reading and me eyes are blurring. But I couldn't go to sleep without thanking you for your greatness first. so:
    1. YOU ARE AMAZING AND THE RAY OF SUNSHINE IN MY PREVIOUSLY VERY SHITTY DAY. THANKYOU. YOU'RE WONDERFUL
    2. I do quite like Carlotta however
    3. I think Shelley has been wronged much more, and so I'm siding with her, even though I like Carlotta better.
    4. Definitely Lily. Because I'm a massive shipper and that's that. I'm extremely looking forward to more Lily/James, Lily/James/Carlotta, Lily/Sirius (heck, I'm just looking forward to more everything)
    5. That being said, the more I think of it, I really enjoyed Marlene, and have grown to absolutely LOVE Donna (she's awesome.) SO I'd say for me it's that order: Lily, Donna, Marlene

Enjoy a well deserved rest, and congratulations on a goodness-filled 100 pages
    Thanking you muchly!

  66. Hmm I'm wondering about James's behavior, too. He is a bit insensitive to Lily and cutesier with Carlotta than I would've guessed. As you said in the prologue, though, he is supposed to be like the average 17-yr. old boy, who would be even more clueless. Is James's reaction part him annoyed thinking that Lily's just scolding him again (like she always used to) and part him being a tiny bit happy that she's reacting (and maybe >wanting< her to be a little riled up)?

Will relationship James be different with Lily than he is with Carlotta? He's already being a pretty sweet boyfriend, I'm not sure I can picture him being too different with Lily, but I hope he's somehow even better :)

  67. My favourite parts were Lily and Donna's. Aaawww Jules its so sweet that you spent all night writing. Your lovely.

  68. I'm sure everyone is on Shelley's side, just because 1. Carlotta is a slag and 2. Carlotta is keeping James from Lily. If Carlotta hadn't retaliated, I might have been a bit more ambivalent, but because she didn't just shut up and listen to Shelley's rant like she should have, but she retaliated with some really cruel remarks, I'm so anti-Carlotta. She sucks.
PLEASE don't make the James/Carlotta relationship last too long. It was bad enough that James and Lily didn't get together in ITISNS until the end of the very last chapter. If something happens like that again, I'll be most upset. This is probably one of the greatest James/Lily fanfics I've ever read, but what's the point if there's no James/Lily???

  69. Awww Lily's part was so heartbreaking.

I love how each of your characters are so defined and real.

I would have to say that I like Carlotta more than Shelley though.
