ReplyDeleteI still can't understand why Snape gets so much popularity. He may have acted bravely in the end but he was still a very selfish and bitter man until the end. And I know this is very much out of subject, but does anybody know how the whole Hermione/Draco pairing had begun. There is so many stories about them and it makes absolutely no sense.

ReplyDeleteSirius' birthday is believed to be in either September or October 1959, as JKR revealed that he was 22 when he got sent to Azkaban (which was on Halloween 1981). But that's not definite, it's possible JKR was being approximate.
Hate to disagree with todd, but stay away from hplexicon. Their timelines are awful and they have so much information missing. People think hplexicon can provide you with definitive information about anything you need in the HP universe, but sadly that's not the case. You're more likely to make mistakes if you use hp-lexicon than without.

This is random, but I was in class today and in the middle of the professor's monologue (and I mean, monologue) I thought that this week LaT will be updated. Turns out that by thinking about chapter 31 made me miss ten minutes of explanations (!!). And to top it off, by the end of the class the professor said that it will be extremely important for the exam *sigh*

ReplyDelete@1142 hp-lexicon hasn't been updated since around August of 2007 (right after DH came out) so there's a lot of missing info. I wouldn't say it's full of mistakes, per say, it's just that some of the info in the books contradicts itself and hp-lexicon doesn't always make that clear. But JKR likes the site - on her website she said that she would go there to check accuracy when she was writing so she wouldn't make mistakes. But yeah, it's not perfect. However it's better than the hp wikia and more comprehensive.

I've read various stories, but I must say I'm only sticking to this one now. I've never been so anxious for a new chapter.

ReplyDeleteI LOVELOVELOVE Karen Gillan... but I've always seen her as Ginny. Mainly because Amy Pond is kinda slutty lol. NOT that I actually think Ginny was a slut or anything; after all she settled down with only her third ever boyfriend; but because she was always seen sucking someone-or-other's face in HBP, I can't help but think that, even though I know she actually wasn't... it's just one of those things.
I think I came across Elena Satine (here and here) on this blog? She might just be the most most gorgeous redhead on the planet... definitely the prettiest one I've ever seen. But I can't really imagine her as LaT's Lily because... Idk she's a bit too sophisticated and glamourous for LaT Lily. And even too beautiful, because Carlotta is meant to be prettier than Lily, but I can't possible imagine anyone possibly being described as prettier than Elena Satine, not even Odette Yustman comes close. But in general, I think I've come to see Elene Satine as Lily.
For James... there's no-one really, 'cos I have something really specific in my head. The closest thing is Gaspard Ulliel.
But this Kevin Flamme guy is totally fit too. Who is he? I don't think I've ever seen him before?

Okay, re-read my post... it sounds like I'm a Ginny-hater, which I'm totally not. I really liked her, even though I think the H/G romance wasn't very well written (that's pretty much the only place where I was disappointed in the books). But I don't hate Ginny, I think she was great, and I liked the fact that she didn't sit around waiting for Harry to notice her and everything, cos that would have been lame. But because she was pretty much always either snogging someone (and she did jump between boyfriends rather quickly) or arguing with someone, I just think Ginny is closer to Amy Pond than Lily.

I usually imagine whoever I'm told to imagine, in this case Christiana Capatundi (can't be bothered to go back and check the spelling), but I do think Elena Satine is prettier than her. By quite a lot actually. She is exceptionally beautiful, and I agree, maybe a bit *too* beautiful for LaTLily.

(She left me a really nice review, too, and I feel that my story is not worthy of being liked by this person at the expense of the amazingness that is Life and Times....)

ReplyDeleteKelsey-some people are weird. I think she must have not given it enought of a chance. To be honest in the beginning I wasn't really all that interested in the OCs and I was all like "Dude, siriusly, is this a Lily/James story or not?!" at times, but the OCs really started growing on me more and more, until it's gotten to the point now where I love/am more interested in the OCs more than James lol.
ReplyDelete@Gaspard=Snape-lol yes! I read that story and went on the website, I was totally shocked to see that too, and was really, really confused as to why the people commenting weren't more like "Gaspard?!!! You bitch, GTFO!!" Lol, but I'm glad someone else has noticed and hates it too lol.
I like this Elena Satine person. But I also like Karen Gillan. And I suppose Christiana Capotondi is ok too. I'm easily pleased like that :)
Siriusly? People are hating on Jules' characters? Um... how? Lily has to have friends after all, and I find it annoying when they're all the female first Order members from that photograph, 'cos how likely is it that Dumbledore recruited just kids? So it doesn't bother me if Lily's friends are all/mostly OCs. Only if they're MarySues which they are so so sooooo not. They're the unMarySuest OCs I've ever read in a fanfic.
ReplyDeleteThe only OC I don't like is Adam. I find him boring. And well, also Luke/Shelley/Carlotta etc too, but they're meant to be the characters you love to hate, right? But still, they are still wonderful and realistic, and the rest are all unbelieavably awesome.
Reread from the beginning recently. Chapter 4: Lathe's entry and Donna's kickassery. How is it possible to dislike these characters?!!!
Which kind of brings me to this question: you mentioned in your ANs once that you intended on getting a romance story for Donna. Did you mean Lathe or Charlie Plex? did you have Donna/Plex or Donna/Lathe planned from the beginning, and which did you decide to add in?
(Not going to even comment on the Gaspard!James,cos that's just... no.)

OMG I knew I recognised the name Elena Satine somehwere! After a very little bit of googling-apparently she's being considered (and is favourite) for the role of MaryJane in the SpiderMan reboot. SOOOO we might see Elena Satine-who, it seems, is a possible Lily- with Andrew Garfield, who some people see as James :) Pretty cool, I think.

LOL, no, I absolutely LOVE Alan Rickman. He's wonderful, as a person and actor. And I've read some of his interviews, and he's damn funny as well!
ReplyDeleteBut, let's get sirius here. There's no comparison between him and Gaspard. Honestly. I'm not saying that he's ugly, I mean that in the movies they have to make him look like Snape, and I don't particularly imagine him as a greek god (like Gaspard truly is.. and Kevin Flamme too).

Aaaand, going to the "haters gonna hate" topic, I wasn't that interested in the first chapters of LAT, really. But I think that when I got to chapter 3, I was definitely hooked. That fight in the beginning of 6th year was EPIC.
